Tonight I talked with a friend of mine from the alano club that banned Donovan.

He called a member of the board that oversees the alano club to find out what the official stance was.

The member of the board said that Donovan was not banned, and that as long as he stayed right beside me he could attend the meetings with me.

I am going to the meeting on Wednesday with Donovan.  I will see how we are received.  I will make an announcement at the end of the meeting telling everyone that they can only pet Donovan either before or after the meeting outside the meeting room.  That should take care of the problem.

Donovan wears a muzzle already to satisfy the fears of the board that he will bite somebody as they are liable.  I agreed to this after much thought because he did nip a man in the buttocks.  The man had made what might have appeared to Donovan as threatening gestures in my direction.

I am hoping that this is the last problem Donovan and I will have with this alano club.

Note (Again) My SD, Bingo wears a "Halti" that attaches, is NOT a muzzle but i can control where he places his nose. Take the muzzle off your dog, it only reinfoces his fears. Resind your invitation to pet and pease read more lit on SD work~Ky and Bingo. PS Bingo is alert and does watch. He stands in "watch position when i command him to do so. He has another command that i call space. He then keeps space between me and another person when i ask him to. And he is only a 47 lb border/aussie. But teh "Halti" is excellent control for his facial area and is NOT a muzzle...though some think so...he can still catch a ball w/it on and has been a grt tool.

Sounds like a great solution.  I'm happy for you that it worked out.  Hope everyone goes with the flow.
