if our primary purpose is to stay sober...do we have any secondary or other purposes???

In the AA Preamble it states that our Primay purpose is to Stay Sober. For me that may be the primary purpose for the alcoholic as many see it. My primary Purpose now after a few years has changed.I TRUST MY HP. and Love him and my neighbor and do unto others what i would like to be done unto me -IF I WERE IN THERE SHOES- but by putting the plug in the jug is not all that i see as my primary purpose. is it because i have English as my second language and understand it wrong..tell me what do you see as secondary purposes like helping others or how do you interpret this?

The secondary purpose would be to remember our Primary Purpose...

The primary purpose is for AA not the person. AS member of AA doing AA work I should always keep the AA primary purpose in mind. But as and individual doing Non-AA function I should always keep my Anonymity in the my thought and action to Protect the fellowship..

The purpose that comes to my mind is to be a living example of what God's grace and mercy can do in a persons life. Since my sobriety, I have seen so many miracles because He has opened my eyes to see, as He did with Paul, the very best in people. Before I had no room for anyone except myself, others were not on my radar because I was just so self absorbed with me. I am so grateful, even today as I sit here with a good case of blahs, I am able to appreciate the amazing work of God. Each day I pray that others will see Him in me and that I can be a testiment of the awesome ability of his love for His children. I am a child of God and He loves me, with that what can be wrong. Jeremiah 29:11 tells me He has wonderful plans for me, and I can't wait to see what He will do. My life has changed so drastically since I renewed my relationship with Him and doing His will each day is my goal each day. Thanks for listening. In Thy Service, Gloria

I believe it is to help others; and not exclusively other alcoholics. I believe we should do this because it is the right thing to do....but it also helps us maintain our sobriety.

My primary actions is to live in the Now and practice these principles in all my afairs. after having had a Spiritual Awakening i think different and is more God-concious than worried about staying sober.....does anyone have something to add.
