I did not get sober to live in fear of anything....some are sicker than others.

Birthday dates...I was not "born again" on my 1st day without using; this is an "anniversary". We celebrate "milestones" of recovery, one day at a time. Perhaps there is a misunderstanding here. My birthday date is personal information which I do not believe I volunteered into this website. It could be used in ways which could result in personal or financial harm to me; which I trust is no ones intentions.
My "Sobriety Date" is information I have voluntarily put on my profile. I was taught, this date of acknowledging "milestones" of recovery is not for me to begin with, it is to demonstrate that "it works" for others, like "newcomers"...another reason I am on this website; For Others.
Finally, there is NO ANONYMITY WITHIN the rooms of AA. This website is publicly available and I believe Ed and Glenda have regarded and honored the traditions in this websites handling; for instance we are within the "members" pages. So we cannot "out" anybody by sharing voluntarily posted personal information to each other.
This is my opinion as of today, you are free to agree or disagree as you see fit. Personally, I believe anything which cannot be reconciled with the "Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous should be disregarded.
My opinion is that everyone should want their sobriety b-days shown & im like our other member it is our job to show that the program works & this is a great way to glorify our program. Please feel free to blast my sobriety date everywhere!! Keep up the great work everyone..
AAbsofrigginlutely REDICULOUS!
It is pAArt of my job to show others that IT (AA) works!!
I wish I had more forks to send my speciAAl BirthdAAt greetings to . . .
I have been threatened by a member, to have legal action taken against me for putting the birthday list on blog even if i take hers off, she says i am "outing" everyone. Does that mean that none of us should be allowed to share our sobriety birthdays?
What is your opinion??
Hello all....It is nice to find a place where there are others that share the same wants and desires as myself....recovery and freedom from the bondage of addiction.
I happy to have found this sight to connect with others, read lots of things and find some cool links as well. I really do need the links and connections now and the future to come. I am going through some struggles right now. My family and I are moving out of the country, my teenager is really in uproar over that and is causing major problems in our every day lives, so every thing seems to be snowballing on me right now. I am feeling crushed.
But I know that practicing in any of my addictions will not take it away. I need to put that out there just so others can see it and so that I have stated it to someone else. Drinking, drugging and even bingeing myself to death on sugar will not make anything better right now or ever for that matter. I need to turn it all over to my HP. I have such a hard time of letting go of things. I feel such a need to be in control of everything.
I really need to work on letting go and letting God.
Welcome SoberGirl! Look around the sight and I'm sure you will find someone being active! Glenda has a group just for you ladies in recovery. And please check out "We are not a Glum lot" We love our new members!
