Liberty is not license to do whatever you want to do. It is the freedom to do what you ought to do.

Liberty allows us to make the choice--we can do as we please or we can do what is right. Sometimes those two things corresond but other times they don't. We are not puppets--we have the ability to make a choice.
Liberty allows us to learn from our mistakes.

Insanity causes us to make the same mistakes over and over.
Freedom without personal discipline is anarchy. Anarchy is chaos...which not only is a good description of what happens in society, but in our personal lives when we are practicing alcoholism.

There are rules we must follow, and not just biblical. We must also obey the law, and live within societies "norms".

I have always gotten a kick out of kids who dye their hair purple or pierce their nose or wear pants too big that hang down to their knees because they want to make a statement. They aren't making a statement...anybody could dye their hair purple, pierce their nose or wear pants that don't fit. What skill does that take?

If you want to make a statement, do something not everybody can do. Be the best at something. Push yourself to a higher standard of conduct, behavior and action. Not only do you feel great about yourself, but you will have accomplished something in the process. You will be a better person, somebody others look up to.
